BE AWARE
If you travel May 4th or are already in the Netherlands at that day: May 4th is national Remembrance Day in the Netherlands. At 20:00, the Netherlands observes 2 minutes of silence to remember victims – civilians and soldiers – who have been killed or murdered in the Kingdom of the Netherlands or anywhere else in the world in war situations or during peace-keeping operations since the outbreak of the Second World War. Your transport (train/bus) will stop riding for those two minutes and services in restaurants etc. might stop as well for 2 minutes.
May 5th is a national holiday – Liberation Day –. It marks the end of the German occupation during World War II in 1945. On this day, the Dutch commemorate their freedom and reflect on the importance of liberty, democracy, and human rights. The celebrations include various activities across the country, such as festivals, concerts. Public transport may be extra busy and it will follow a Sunday schedule.
Train
By train traivel to Enschede. At Enschede station on the south side there is a bus station. Here you can take line 2 towards Helmerhoek. Exit at stop 'P+R Zuiderval'. The busride takes about 9 minutes
Buy train and bus tickets
At the train station you can purchase tickets using the NS self-service ticket machine or go to the NS Service Desk at Schiphol. Go to www.ns.nl/en for general travel advice by train or to buy an E-Ticket.
For the bus, go to www.9292.nl to plan the trip. You can pay your ticket using you contactless debit or credit card from Maestro, V PAY, Mastercard of VISA. Check in when you enter the bus. Remember to ALSO check out when you leave the bus.
